Your Toastmasters have been out and about doing a variety of exciting things ...

Gosh where has the time gone since the 3rd July?

Your Toastmasters have been out and about doing a variety of exciting things ...

On Monday the 4th July Jon from Your Toastmasters conducted a private historical tour of Ramsgate for wonderful Canadian visitor, Raquel. This was followed by a superb meal at the Belgian Bar!

Then on Friday 8th July Your Toastmasters were invited to a party at Quex Park Livery Yard.  The party was to bid bon voyage to Tracey Peters. Thanks to Dawn Tilley who runs the yard as well as Quex Carriages (an excellent addition to any wedding!) for hosting a great party.

Brighton was our next port of call and we spent a great weekend with the locals.  This was a wonderful opportunity to chat with up and coming comic Kathryn Spencer- watch this space as we hope she and her fellow comics  will be venturing to Margate to appear in the Lighthouse Bar on the 2nd September 2011.

Back in Thanet Nikki from Your Toastmasters had planned for a synthetic ice rink to be erected at Newlands Primary.  This was a great opportunity for the locals of Ramsgate to get together for a variety of social occasions. At 6:00 am on the 14th July the staff from Get ya Skates On arrived for the start of their 3 day stint.  About 800 people enjoyed the rink - ranging from Newlands pupils and staff, The Foreland School - pupils and staff, Manston Riding Centre and of course the local residents of Ramsgate.

On Tuesday 19th July Nikki from Your Toastmasters had organised a skipping competition at Newlands Primary.  This was another great success with the best pupil in the school skipping a record 399 skips in 2 minutes and the best member of staff, Sabrina Berry, achieving 256 skips in 2 minutes!  A big thank you to John McCormack from Skip 2 B Fit for sponsoring all the prizes and providing all those who took part with a punnet of blueberries!

A sad farewell.  On Thursday 21st July the staff, both old and new, along with the governors of Newlands Primary held a retirement party for Jonathan.  They all celebrated Jon's achievements and dedication to the school over his 26 years as Deputy Headteacher.  Retiring from the teaching profession allows Jon more time to dedicate to his current and future clients as a toastmaster

Race for Life number 2 was on Sunday 24th July at Palm Bay, Margate.  Nikki finished the 5k in 25:44 minutes. Thank you to all those who sponsored Nikki and this worthy cause.
