Wow what a weekend!

On Friday night we headed into Margate to the Mayor's Parlour in the Old Town.  The Mayor of Margate, Michael Tomlinson and his lovely wife Shirley, entertained us royally.  The catering was well received and was supplied by Daniel Goldman and his wife, owners of Cafe G.

Saturday brought about a wonderful birthday party in Minnis Bay.  Lynn and Helen pulled out all the stops to ensure all guests had a fabulous time.  They had various carnival style games organised along with entertainer Paul Tann otherwise known as Circus Boy Paul.  Paul taught us all a variety of circus skills and magic.  However the highlight was his fire breathing finale.  As Toastmasters we would thoroughly recommend Paul's services at any special occasion and look forward to working with him in the future.

To end the weekend on a high we helped break a world record.  We put on our dancing shoes and headed to Broadstairs where we danced , along with over 1000 others, to Abba's Dancing Queen.

Breaking the world record was thirsty work so where better to go than the Lighthouse Bar on Margate's harbour arm - we raised a glass or two to Simon mine host as it was his birthday! The Lighthouse Bar is a perfect venue for any special occassion.

We think you'll agree it was an eventful weekend!

  3. Hi Nikki and Jonathan, It is good to see you getting out and about and introducing yourselves to venues in your area. When the local folk realise that they have not one but two excellent toastmasters and caring toastmasters at that, you should find that you will be very busy with many lovely weddings and other interesting work. Very best wishes ans good luck with your local introductions whilst having fun. Very best wishes Richard at www.thetoastmaster.co.uk and www.englishtoastmasters.co.uk
