2 wedding fairs and a bit of sabrage!

Since our return from holiday in mid May things have been really busy for Your Toastmasters, Thanet’s only husband and wife team of toastmasters and masters of ceremonies.

On Monday 14th May Your Toastmasters along with the other Wish List wedding professionals met at Cuts Inc in preparation for the Wedding Showcase at the Pavilion Broadstairs on Sunday 27th May.  All is going well and the team are looking forward to working together to promote quality weddings in Thanet, East Kent and the South of England over the months to come.

Wednesday the 16th took Your Toastmasters &Event Coordinators to an evening wedding fair the Fayreness in Botany Bay, Thanet.  This wedding venue by the sea is now run by Shepherd Neame and is clearly promoting an exciting opportunity for brides & groom to enjoy a special day with wonderful views and open spaces for everyone to enjoy.  The wedding fair was well attended and the organisers Mikala and Karen from Estrella Events were well organised and a pleasure to work with.  It was a very pleasant atmosphere on a lovely spring evening on the Kent Coast.  Your Toastmasters are looking forward to attending the next one in September.

On the same evening Thanet’s Lady Toastmaster even found time to visit a bride and groom in Broadstairs to teach the groom sabrage (the art of opening champagne with a sabre) prior to their big day at St PetersChurch and Quex Park.

Busy times - but always enjoyable.

Look out for our blog on the Wedding Show Case fashion show with the Wish List – Charli Pardo – professional makeup artist, Debbie Clark - Home Salon, Chris Coles – Cuts Inc, Sally Parkes – Flowers by SP, Ted & Kim – Immi Photography and Your Toastmasters at the Pavilion Broadstairs!

A busy weekend for Your Toastmasters in London, Dover and Broadstairs

Kent Toastmasters and Masters of Ceremonies enjoyed a weekend of meeting like minded people.

On Friday the 20th April, Your Toastmasters had the honour of attending a grand ball at the Mandarin Oriental in London.  This event was organised by the Confrerie du Sabre d’Or and a number of guests including Nikki Curran were intronised as Maitre Sabreurs.  This now means that Kent has a Lady Toastmaster who can teach others the noble art of opening champagne with a sabre.  This is not only great fun but is perfect for a wedding when a bride or groom wish to impress their friends or family.

Nikki & Jonathan who are both members of the Confrerie du Sabre d'Or had a great evening and met many lovely like minded people including fellow Maitre Sabreur David Court and Jullian White the UK Ambassador.

The memorable evening was recorded photographically by Scott Collier

On Sunday the weather ignored the forecast and the sun shone all day on the wonderful venue of Solton Manor near Dover.  This manor house is a perfect setting for weddings.  Your Toastmasters and Masters of Ceremonies met many prospective brides and grooms as the wedding fayre held in the converted Dutch Barn.  East Kent has many quality venues and this is no exception – it is well worth a visit.  The fayre had many wedding suppliers from the local area and it was a pleasure to spend the day in their company.

On Monday Your Toastmasters met with the Wish List  wedding professionals to discuss the wedding show that is to take place at the Pavilion Broadstairs on Sunday 27th May – more meeting will follow to ensure this will be a quality event.

Kent based Toastmasters and Masters of Ceremonies visit wedding professionals in Essex

Kent based Toastmasters visit wedding professionals in Essex.

Your Toastmasters left their base in East Kent and crossed the river to Essex on Wednesday.  We believe it is very important to meet others involved in making weddings special for brides and grooms.
We had been invited to attend the monthly meeting of the Master Photographers Association for London and Essex. Kevin Pengelly Pengelly Photography, the chairman made us particularly welcome and introduced us to many very talented photographers.  It was clear that all brides really must take care to book the right supplier to record all the moments for their special day.
The following day in Chelmsford Your Toastmasters met up with fellow members of the English Toastmasters Association at the County Hotel.  The Kent toastmasters, were one of the counties represented as the ETA is a national organisation.

The day was spent discussing many aspects of toastmaster duties and how we can all better our services and educate both clients and venues as to the benefits of male and female toastmasters.

On our journey back to Thanet we called in to visit a bride and groom who wished to practice sabrage under the tutelage of Lady ToastmasterNikki.  This was executed with great aplomb.
